Baked Ziti

Ingredients:
-1IB lean ground beef

-2 medium onions, chopped

-3 garlic cloves, minced

-1 jar (28 oz) reduced-sodium meatless spaghetti sauce

-1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

-1 can (12 oz) tomato paste

-3/4 cup water

-2 TBSP minced fresh parsley

-1 TBSP worcestershire sauce

-2 tsp dried basil

-1-1/2 tsp dried oregano, divided

-1 pound uncooked ziti pasta

-1 carton (15oz) reduced- fat ricotta cheese

-2 cups (8oz) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

-1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided

-1/2 cup egg whites

-1/2 tsp salt

-1/2 tsp pepper


Directions:
1. In a large saucepan, cook beef, onions and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. 

2. Stir in spaghetti sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, water, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, basil and 1 tsp oregano. Cover and simmer for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

3. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. In a bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, egg whites, salt and pepper.

4. In a greased 13-in. x 9-in, x2-in. baking dish coated with non stick cooking spray, spread 1 cup of meat sauce. In dish, layer a forth of the pasta, 1 cup of meat sauce, and forth of the cheese mixture. Top with remaining sauce. sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese and oregano. Cover and bake at 350F for 20minutes or until heated through.
